October update: what to check now

October 1 rebuilt elevators: platforms align with floors, stop above obstacles and carry carts, items and players more smoothly. Continued cranking does not force a cabin down through an obstruction. October 9 also changes Gargoyle routing around moving cabins.

September 25: earlier corrections

Castle 2 descending lifts no longer push crouching players below the floor. Castle vertical-lift floating and hand shaking were corrected.

Quota marker visibility, elevator-call prompts and chapter-page navigation were corrected; tavern music follows the Music slider.

Use the current call-lever setup

Look for the call lever on the current level when the elevator is elsewhere. Do not search for a brake lever from an older guide: its removal is explicit in the September 18 notes. Exact input bindings should be checked in your current controls.

Move the crew and cargo together

The update fixed players and cart cargo riding elevators. Keep the load organized and check that everyone has arrived before continuing. A fix note describes intended behavior, not a guarantee that every physics edge case is impossible.

An elevator is not a certified safe zone

Man in Shadows had elevator behavior changed on September 10 and floor teleportation fixed on September 18. Do not infer that changing floors permanently strands it. Capture the floor, cargo and host role when reporting a repeatable lift issue.

Lift symptom, current evidence, next observation

The distinctions below separate the official change from the observation you can make in your own run. Practical next steps are guidance, not additional hidden mechanics.

Lift symptom, current evidence, next observation
SituationEvidence or exampleHow to use it
Lift on another floorCall levers are present on every level.Look for the current lever instead of relying on an older layout tutorial.
Missing brake controlBrake levers were removed. Its absence is not proof that the location generated incorrectly.
Slow winch routineSeptember 14 reduces required turns by 2.5 times. This is a relative change, not a published universal turn count for every lift.
Cargo or player left behindSeptember 18 fixes riding behavior.Capture the specific repeatable case if the current build still fails.
