Let the current session resolve first

Host departure is different from failing to discover a lobby. Allow the current migration or reconnect state to finish before several crew members create replacement sessions. The patch notes do not promise a fixed recovery duration or successful restoration in every case.

If a creature was holding someone

Record the creature and the captured player’s state before and after migration. Anchor and Crab have a specific release fix in September 18; this is not proof that Head Crab shares the same mechanic.

If the updated client remains ragdolled, include the location, level, old host/new host roles and whether the creature released visually. That distinguishes a repeated migration bug from an ordinary downed state.

Protect progress while comparing outcomes

Compare the chapter and level visible after recovery with your pre-disconnect notes. Use the in-game reconnect path if offered. If the session cannot continue, agree on one replacement host and confirm the selected chapter before rejoining. Do not delete saves to diagnose a session-state mismatch.
